Although Danny Whitfield enjoys creating fine art pieces, the art industry initially did not embrace him with open arms.
In the past, the industry overlooked automotive artistry as a valid genre, but Whitfield persevered. He created fine art pieces and worked to gain wider acceptance for automotive art. Today, he is recognized as a key figure in this movement, with his work featured in wall hangings, posters, magazines, and car designs worldwide.
Automotive art has gained new significance and is now respected alongside artists like Norman Rockwell and Pablo Picasso. Danny’s passion for cars ranks him among the top aficionados, earning him the title of a modern-day Michelangelo. His art will continue to be showcased in homes, galleries, and museums, resonating with future generations.

Dale Earnhardt signing Danny's Corvette prints!
Danny had the opportunity to take photos at an autograph session with racing legend Dale Earnhardt prior to his passing. The session was part of the National Corvette Museum's celebration, during which Dale signed nearly everything in the museum. On the table to the right, you can see two Corvette prints that Danny created for the Corvette Manufacturing factory celebration, both of which Dale graciously autographed. These prints are now priceless!

Danny's artwork has been proudly featured on the cover of Revell and Monogram model car packages. How many of you built model cars as kids? I'm sure you remember the excitement of opening the box that contained the car of your dreams. Authentic hand painted art on canvas by Danny Whitfield
Danny Whitfield created these hand-painted art pieces between 1989 and 1997. However, due to increasing demand from clients who wanted to see their own cars on canvas, he decided to switch to using a drawing pen and tablet. Producing a painting for each client was challenging, as each piece took up to three months to complete.
Therefore, in 2000, Danny began using a Wacom drawing tablet and digital pen to create his artwork digitally.
This transition allowed him to offer a wider variety of colors and factory options for his clients in a shorter amount of time. Over time, his artworks gradually shifted from hand-painted to digital. Danny originally used Winsor & Newton designer gouache and acrylics, applying them with watercolor brushes and an airbrush. Ultimately, his goal was to meet his clients' needs and bring them satisfaction.

Vintage art created in 1974! Authentic hand drawn art by Danny Whitfield in his youth
Danny created these sketches while attending Henry Ford High School in Detroit, Michigan, between 1974 and 1975. The sketches reflect his passion for art and depict the drag racing craze of the 1960s and 1970s. One of his sketches featured a Mustang, which was the first illustration for which he was paid. A fellow student commissioned him to draw his brother's Mustang, and upon completion, Danny was paid $7.00 for the work.
This experience ignited his love for art, and he pursued it with the same enthusiasm that Henry Ford applied to his factory, approaching it like an assembly line of artwork.
One of Danny's sketches, depicting a Pontiac Grand Am, even received praise from a substitute teacher who recognized his dedication to art over math. His sketches included big engines in small cars, custom woodies, T-buckets, and more.
For those that can remember renowned cartoonist Charles M. Schulz
Charles M. Schulz was a renowned cartoonist best known for creating the iconic comic strip "Peanuts," which features characters like Charlie Brown and Snoopy. He once shared that when he told people about his profession, they would laugh, but that laughter faded when he showed them his first paycheck.
"Believing in yourself means having faith in your own abilities and trusting that you can accomplish tasks within your capability. With self-confidence, you can overcome self-doubt, ignore critics, and take the necessary actions to achieve your goals."
As a devoted follower of Christ, Danny often quotes a scripture that he holds dear as an artist: "He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability, and knowledge in all kinds of crafts, to make artistic designs in gold, silver, and bronze to cut and set stones to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship." — Exodus 31:3-5.
